Lucky ladybugs? Not so much.

I was under the impression that ladybugs were good luck.  So, when they plagued our home two weeks ago in biblical proportions I tried not to freak out too much.  They came in droves, herds, flocks, gaggles, coveys, colonies, swarms, and hoards.  There were a lot of them.  A lot of ladybugs.  You'd think with that many little good luck charms flitting around we'd be in for a good run of luck.  Not that I believe in luck.  I'm just sayin'.

Instead of this alleged good luck several less-than-lucky situations occurred.

We lost our only set of SUV keys.  I know, I know...we should have had a spare set.  But still.  After having two new keys cut and several trips to the dealership neither of them will work.  Something about an ignition cylinder being changed out by the previous owner.  (They must have lost their keys, too.)  All I know is it equates to us being out A LOT of dough.  Like more than airfare to Colorado for the four of us.  Not that we're going to Colorado.  It was just a lovely thought.

I lost my watch and favorite lip gloss.  The watch turned up by the end of the week.  Still no sign of the gloss.

The spacebar and surrounding keys on our laptop stopped working.  (I'm sure it had nothing to do with the Special K and milk I spilled on it.)

Our new vacuum lost it's suction, making ladybug removal extremely difficult.

Mattie felt the need to decorate a bedroom wall with red and green crayons.  She knows Christmas is just around the corner.

If it weren't for bad luck we would not have had much luck at all this week!  Except for our quick trip to Little Rock to meet the Pioneer Woman on Monday...another post for another time.

No ladybugs were harmed in the writing of this post.  They all died of natural causes.  Or, were eaten by Macie.

The End.

Santa made an extra early trip!

Yesterday we visited Santa at Bass Pro Shop.  We arrived to elves serving cookies, candy, and apple cider.  The cider needed ice because it was 80 degrees and glorious!

Mattie and Macie sat on Santa's lap and did not yell, cry, or slide off a single time!

It was such a welcome experience considering years past.

This picture best represents a typical visit.

Macie kept pulling Santa's beard with her pointer finger and thumb.  Then, while Darryl and Macie shopped, Mattie and I colored a real stocking and wrote a letter to Santa.  It was an enjoyable, well-done event.  Kudos to BPS!

Why am I doing this?

Why am I sitting here at 1:34 AM on a Monday morning attempting to create a blog? What will I blog about? What responsibilities will I neglect in order to blog? Will I think of anything clever? What font will I use? Why don't I go to bed?

I suppose I'm birthing a blog to chronicle the joys of having two precious little girls and a darling husband. Perhaps it will be something we can look back on to reminisce. I'm not writing down all the cute little things the girls do on a regular basis so maybe this will be a better avenue for me to document the sweetness.

Gosh, I just wrote my first blog post! Yea, me!  I wonder what I'll think of it at daylight :-)
